THEATRE OPERATIONS MANAGER

Hudson Theatre, the newest and oldest theatre on Broadway, is searching for a Theatre Operations Manager to join the Hudson team. The ideal candidate will have experience managing entertainment venues, the capacity to oversee a theatrical facility and the safety & security of its personnel and patrons during performances with the ability to lead a front of house team to the highest level possible. The Theatre Operations Manager will report directly to Hudson’s General Management team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Oversee the entire front-of-house department including ushers, concessions, security, housekeeping and others
• Manage theatre operations during performances and events, ensuring a safe and secure building and delivering the best possible service to each and every patron
• Act as the main contact for all patron requests and issues during performances and at the office
• Complete nightly reporting for the theatre and for Darling’s, Hudson’s in-house concessions business
• Coordinate staffing levels for each FOH department, including those with our hotel partner, to create weekly schedules and process payroll
• Maintain a clean and welcoming theatre, keeping an eye on detailed items needing repair or organization
• Perform general office administrative duties including ordering office supplies, handling mailings, printing postage, maintaining filing systems, coordinating HR paperwork, Union Reports and venue calendars
• Ability to fully understand and follow the intricacies of multiple collective bargaining agreements
• Participate in the recruitment and training of new staff members
• Assist with special events as needed
• Additional duties and special projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
• F03 (Indoor Place of Assembly Safety Personnel) and CPR/AED Certifications. If not a current certificate holder of these, must obtain upon hiring
• Excellent personal communication skills with fellow employees, direct reports and the public
• Skilled at effectively instilling a vibe and culture to a large staff who will in turn broadcast that vibe to patrons
• Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines, solve problems quickly and work well under pressure
• Detail oriented, able to handle several tasks simultaneously
• Willing and able to work nights, weekends and holidays
• Excellent Computer skills are essential with an emphasis on Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
• Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience in theatre management
• Knowledge of the Broadway unions and their working rules are a plus
• Experience operating an electronic POS system in a restaurant or bar is preferred

THEATRE OPERATIONS ASSOCIATE

Hudson Theatre, the newest and oldest theatre on Broadway, is searching for a Theatre Operations Associate to join the Hudson team. The ideal candidate will be an enthusiastic and dynamic individual who has exemplary customer service skills, confidence dealing with the public, and a passionate desire to achieve the very highest standards. The position is part-time (20-25 hours per week) and will report directly to Hudson’s Theatre Operations Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Provide support to theatre management in the efficient operation of the theatre on a show to show basis
• Act as a point of contact for staff, assisting with any concerns and supporting staff with patron issues
• Engage with patrons and work in effectively resolving any patron conflicts or concerns
• Support management in supplying staff members with cash, inventory paperwork, radios, till keys and uniforms at the start and end of each shift, and be consistent and exact in all cash handling
• Provide bar staff with the proper process and procedure of bar maintenance, re-stocking products and inventory
• Ensure the optimal customer experience at each performance and special event, while sharing responsibility for the security of patrons, the facility, and all personnel overseeing the running of the front of house operation
• Process nightly Zonal reports, VIP guest lists, sales spreadsheets and other ancillary documents
• Oversee cash management for the F & B operation including daily deposits and weekly pick-ups
• Ensure effective scheduling of staff to service the operational needs of the theatre
• Assist with improving and implementing the policies and procedures of the theatre and F & B operation
• Create a fun and vigorous work environment, inspiring and leading the staff while promoting respect and dedication in each employee’s work
• Be active and well-prepared with knowledge of the theatre’s emergency procedures and work closely with management in case of an emergency
• Participate in the training of new FOH staff members
• Additional duties and special projects as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Outgoing, energetic personality and the ability to engage with patrons
• Exceptional interpersonal relations and communications skills
• Exceptional attention to detail, and excellent judgment and discretion
• A creative problem-solver who can work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Capable of lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds and can be active for a prolonged amount of time
• Valid food handler certification and knowledge of DOH standards is preferred but not required
• Basic PC computer skills with an emphasis on Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• College degree and experience working in arts organizations preferred, but not required
• Prior customer service experience, preferably in the hospitality industry (theatre, restaurant, hotel, etc.).
• Experience operating an electronic POS system in a restaurant or bar is preferred

FACILITIES ASSOCIATE

Hudson Theatre, the newest and oldest theatre on Broadway, is searching for a Facilities Associate join the Hudson team. The part-time position will range from 15-20 hours per week, generally during the weekdays. The Facilities Associate will report directly to Hudson’s General Management team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Gain full knowledge of the building’s HVAC, elevator, and MEP operations
• Maintenance and repairs to doors, carpeting, floor tiles, bar equipment, railings, fixtures & hardware, minor plumbing (including sinks, toilet & shower fixtures, leaks), ejector pump, soap & paper towel dispensers, drywall, grout/caulk, and other building-related items
• Apply special attention to patron-facing spaces, such as lobbies and bar spaces, which may require such tasks as sanding, drywall, spackling, and touch-up painting
• Removal or installation of appliances, plumbing fixtures, door fixtures, etc., and regular upkeep/cleaning of roof & storm drains and other in-house drainage systems
• Monitor HVAC to ensure desired temperature throughout the venue and handle immediate HVAC issues
• Schedule/meet with external vendors to discuss large repairs
• Facilitate monthly and annual checks of the fire extinguishers
• Additional short and long-term preventative maintenance, repairs, and capital projects, as directed by general management team

QUALIFICATIONS:
• S95 (Fire Safety Director) and F03 (Indoor Place of Assembly Safety Personnel) Certifications. If not a current certificate holder, may be required to obtain upon hiring
• Experience or familiar understanding of working with the Broadway and NYC Hotel Unions is preferred
• Team player with a “can do” attitude and positive spirit
• Strong verbal communication skills and attention to detail

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
• High School Diploma or equivalent, with additional certifications or training
• 3+ years in facilities, trade, or similar positions
• Project management and/or having worked with landmarked buildings a plus

COAT CHECK & USHERS

Hudson Theatre, the newest and oldest theatre on Broadway, is seeking outgoing, friendly, service-oriented and energetic individuals to join Hudson’s front of house team as Coat Check attendees and Ushers.

Qualified candidates will have prior experience, preferably in the hospitality industry (theatre, restaurant, hotel, etc.). Candidates will also have excellent communication skills, strong interpersonal relations and can easily adapt to the ever-changing theatrical environment. Looking for friendly, courteous individuals who will respect their fellow staff, patrons and managers, and participate in creating an exceptionally exciting environment.

Applicant will be able to start work and be available to train during the week of June 18th. Applicant will have a flexible schedule that will include nights, weekends and holidays. Applicant is also capable of lifting and carrying up to 30 pounds and can be active for a prolonged amount of time.

The usher role is a union position (Local 306). If applicant is not currently a member of the union upon hire, they will be required to join and fulfil the requirements of joining the union. The Coat Check role is a non-union position.
