DGF Toasts: Stephen Schwartz's 70th Birthday

Join the Dramatists Guild Foundation on April 23 at the Hudson Theatre as we celebrate Stephen Schwartz’s 70th Birthday with a star-filled concert dedicated to Stephen and his beloved songs, stories, and legacy. Watch as Broadway’s best toast Stephen for his commitment to the craft and the community with show stopping performances from across his four-decade repertory of songs.

Directed by Scott Schwartz with music direction by Andrew Lippa, the concert will include special performances by Tony, Grammy and Academy Award-winning composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Dear Evan HansenLa La LandThe Greatest Showman), Tony, Grammy and Academy Award-winning composer Alan Menken (Little Shop of HorrorsThe Little Mermaid); Tony Award-winners Ben Platt (Dear Evan Hansen); Tony Award-winner Judith Light (Other Desert CitiesThe Assembled Parties); Patina Miller (PippinSister Act)Tony Award-winner Laura Osnes (Bonnie and Clyde, Bandtand); Jason Gotay (Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark); Darren Criss (The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime StoryHedwig and the Angry Inch); acclaimed soprano Renée Fleming (CarouselLindsay Mendez (CarouselWickedGodspell), Alex Newell (Once On This IslandGlee), Michael McCorry Rose (WickedA Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder), Corey Cott (BandstandNewsiesGigi), Casey Cott (Riverdale), and composer Matt Gould (Invisible Thread). There will be appearances by Grammy and Academy Award-winning composer and lyricist Kristen Anderson-Lopez (FrozenCoco) and double E.G.O.T.-winning composer and lyricist Robert Lopez.

This is the debut of the new concert series, DGF: Toasts, honoring the life and work of American theater’s greatest writers. Proceeds from the concert go to supporting the Dramatists Guild Foundation (DGF) a national charity that fuels the future of American theater by supporting the writers who create it. The Dramatists Guild Foundation fosters playwrights, composers, lyricists, and bookwriters at all stages of their careers. DGF sponsors educational programs; provides awards, grants, and stipends; offers free space to create new works; and gives emergency aid to writers in need.
